NO MARTHA this is NOT UTOPIA!

I want to call out names, but would that be slander? I don't need any lawsuits what would they get A HOLLERING 16 Month!

I started feeling bad because this is the second well third (THANKS Great-great-great grandmother ______ for being IRISH) holiday without decorations in my house. Then we are sticking to the simple meals. I don't read recipes that's to organized. What can a working mom do? What should a working mom do?

I am not superwoman! I cannot have a fully decorated house, cook these wonderful meals, work, raise a child, and be a supporting wife! Yous-a-lie! (country slang). Only OCD people can do that and they have an issue because it's a disorder AGAIN NOT IN ORDER! AHHHHHHH! So I'm not comparing myself to another home or cooking show. That's UTOPIA! I denounce the depression. They are great shows, have great ideas, but that's UTOPIA. I have come to realize that I cannot do that! I'm running myself crazy trying to be the perfect mother and wife. NOOOOOOOOOO!

Ok, I need some encouragement from the mothers!

  1. What holiday are you blogging about? Whatever, you are a wonderful mother and wife. Do not worry about decorating you house because you do not invite anyone to you house in the first place.

    HAHAHA, Leverne

  3. Well, I'm not a mom, but I can tell you that as a working woman with a demanding job, I have found it is impossible to do it all. You can only do the best you can and the heck with what others think! As for cooking, I home cook by using a crockpot or preparing the night or weekend before. BTW, those cooking shows, ha! what hooey! They are fun to watch, but who can cook like that all the time? The ingredients are not what typical people stock or what they cook with on a daily basis (i.e. heavy cream, etc.)--or if they do, OM Gosh!!

  6. I have these conversations with myself all the time and here is the way to look at it. You can either be a Martha mother or a Mary mother. Apply the Biblical story to being a mom... You can spend all your time cleaning & trying to be perfect or you can take that time to enjoy the people around you. Sometimes I have time to clean, sometimes I don't but I never take time away from my kids in order to impress others. Honestly, there are moms out there that seem to have it all together (meals, clean house, bla bla bla) BUT often their family suffers because of it. Now I am not saying that people can't do it all because some people do...but I do know that most people don't. If you really want help getting organized, I do have a few tips :)

  7. Unfortunately you can't put those items in the crock pot! Cleaning is another thing you just have to do the best you can when you can. My mom didn't work, so the house was always clean, but in a 2 income household, it's not that easy--and even she told me that. You pick your 'battles'. We don't have people over often, so who cares what the house looks like?! When we do have others over, we straighten up--if they care too much about the looks of my house vs. the fellowship, then they are not the friends you think they are. I'm a pack rat and I hate cleaning! My hubby and I share the cleaning and do major major cleanings several times a year. BTW, I think Mrs. Tyler has it right! -- Stephanie
